1st Lytham St Anne’s (St Cuthbert’s) Cub Scouts

1st October 2007

Thank you for the splendid turn-out at Church Parade this week, I believe that we all had a good time, made especially fun by seeing Iona as the ‘magician’s assistant’.  I was particularly pleased that a number of the congregation made a point of complementing the Cubs’ smart appearance and good behaviour, as well as Oliver’s confident reading.

DIARY DATES

Monday, 8th October: Booths Supermarket

Next week’s meeting is a behind-the-scenes tour of the new Booths so that the Cubs can find out how the Building has been designed to work with environmental concerns, something that will contribute to their Global Conservation Activity Badge.  I hope that it will also be interesting to see the supermarket from a different perspective.  Please note that after the tour we will walk back to the Victory Hall for collection as usual at 8pm, however, parents should drop their child off at the new Booths supermarket in Lytham at 6.30pm.

Friday, 12th October: District Event: Cub Quiz

Fylde organise an annual quiz for all Cub Packs in the District.  This will be held at 7pm at the 7th LSA’s Scout Hut (next to the old clinic just off Headroomgate).  We will field a team comprised of 1 x 8 year old, 1 x 9 year old, 1 x 10 year old and 1 other of any age.  I will ask Cubs if they are interested in taking part and will contact you to ensure that they are available to participate that night.

Monday, 15th October: Blackpool Illuminations

Parents are to drop their child off at the Blackpool Council car park at Starr Gate at 6.30pm, from where we will walk along the sea-front, see some of the Illuminations, and stop off for chips at Harrowside before returning to Starr Gate.  Parents should be at the car park for the usual 8pm collection.

22nd October: Half-term.  No meeting

Monday, 28th October: Themed Games Night at Victory Hall.

Monday, 5th November: Bonfire Night

As you know, Cubs will be going along to the Round Table display at Fylde RUFC.  Cubs’ entry will be paid for from Scout funds.  If parents would like to book their tickets through Cubs in advance of the night the group rate is £2.50 per ticket.  If you do want to pre-book your tickets, please let me know how many tickets are required and make payment in full by 15th October.  On the night, we will meet at The Blossoms car park to ensure that we enter the ground together.

Saturday, 10th November: District Event – Cub Swimming Gala, Kirkham Swimming Pool, 4pm – 6pm

The Pack will be entering the swimming gala, which will consist of a mixture of events – individual races, team relays and a fun-race for the less confident swimmer.  All Cubs are invited and encouraged to attend.  I will send a separate notice around about the event nearer to the time.

Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
