About our Beaver Colony
Beaver Scouts are
the youngest members of the Scout Movement and collectively they
form a 'Colony'. They are usually aged between six and eight
years old, but can join at 5 years and 9 months. Usually shortly
after their 8th birthday beavers will move up to Cubs. Their
uniform is very distinctive - a turquoise sweatshirt with a sky
blue necker. We meet once a week during term time, at St
Cuthbert's Victory Hall. Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends,
playing games, going on visits and helping others. We also
participate in some activities at a weekends including days
run by the Group, District and County.
We also participate
in over-night sleepovers. These are often the first time a young
person spends a night away from home. They take place in
suitable buildings, often Scout centre's
Beavers enjoy
earning their badges and wear them with pride. We have 6
Challenge badges and 12 activity badges to earn. In addition to
these are special event/joining in awards and group awards - so
beavers are kept very busy!
The Beaver Scout Promise is made when a Beaver joins the colony
I promise to do my
best
To be kind and helpful
And to love God.
