ST CUTHBERT’S CHURCH LYTHAM
WHAT YOUR MARRIAGE SERVICE COSTS

The Service  £260.00 
Some of this is paid directly to the Diocese of Blackburn and is put towards the cost of the stipend of the parish priest. The rest goes towards the maintenance and upkeep of the church building and grounds and the administration costs of St Cuthbert’s.

The Marriage Certificate £3.50 (£7.00 if requested after the event)

The Banns £22.00
Banns Certificate £12.00

The Verger £50.00
This is the person who prepares the building for the service and assists during the marriage to make sure that such things as the Registers, the special kneelers for the bride and groom, the Orders of Service etc are in the right place at the right time.

The Bells £100.00 (Optional)
We have a peal of eight bells and these will be rung for twenty-five minutes before your service and especially when the bride arrives. They will also be rung for twenty-five afterwards while you are having your photographs taken in front of the church before you make your way top your reception. John Boardman, the chief ringer, leads a team of eight experienced ringers. John has been ringing at St Cuthbert’s for sixty years, and the Boardman family has been ringing here since 1934, the year John was born.

The Red Carpet £50.00 (Optional)
This reaches from the gateway by the pavement right up to the door of the church. It looks very smart.

The Organist £85.00
Peter Jebson, has been the resident organist at St Cuthbert’s for thirty years. He is a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music and a well known concert organist both on the Fylde and nationally. By arrangement, he will play your choice of music for the entrance of the bride, the three hymns of your choice and he will conduct the choir if you choose to have one. He will also play your choice of music for the signing of the Registers if you prefer not to have a choir or soloist.

Choirs and Singers (Optional)
You have a choice here between the following to lead the singing of the hymns and in particular to sing during the signing of the Registers:

A boys’ and girls’ robed choir £75.00  
This usually consists of between ten to twelve young boys and girls who are rehearsed and conducted by Mr Peter Jebson.

Cantamus £150.00
A group of girls aged between eleven and eighteen who all have individual singing lessons. Based at St Cuthbert’s, they are rehearsed and conducted by a professional singing teacher.

A professional soloist £125
Nicola Howard is the Director of Music Development at St Cuthbert’s and is well-known professional opera singer. She will sing for you during the signing of the Registers. Nicola is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, London, where she won the ABRSM Scholarship. As a soloist, Nicola has sung oratorio all over the world including the Messiah and The Creation at the Royal Albert Hall with Sir David Wilcocks and the English Chamber Orchestra and a programme of Beethoven and Wagner as guest artist with Kent Nagano and the orchestra of Opera De Lyon in Lyon, St Etienne and Geneva. Nicola is in demand as a recitalist and has performed regularly at St Martin’s in the Field, The Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Purcell Room, London, as well as in the United States, Canada and Europe. She has appeared extensively with the BBC Singers, and radio and television work has included numerous recitals for Classic FM, the BBC and Tele France. Nicola is a winner of the Royal Overseas League International Singing Competition.

Photographs and Videos. (Optional)
Fees for these by arrangement with the Vicar are paid directly to the individuals concerned.

Flowers (Optional) can be arranged through the church flower arranging team. The standard fee for this is £50.00. Arrangements may also be made directly with professional florists.

 You are requested to make your payment at the rehearsal which usually takes place a few days before your wedding.

The Vicar, Canon Andrew Clitherow, will be happy to take your booking, meet with you and assist in the drawing up of the Order of Service, advise about general arrangements, take the rehearsal and conduct your service.
